●本授業の目的およびねらい
The main objective of this course is improve communication skills and to provide students with enough practice to feel comfortable using English in functional daily activities and to express their opinions on a number of topics. Most classroom activities will focus on practicing English knowledge already acquired and gaining confidence in daily practical situations. We will also practice conversation strategies and acquire some vocabulary to help discuss life experiences and academic content areas.

Weeks 2-3: Managing Time/Lifestyles
Week 4 Health & health issues, lifestyles survey
Week 5: Introduce Frasier (US comedy)
Week 6: Expressing Emotions and feelings
Week 7: ‘Love at First Sight’, Frasier: ‘Dad Meets Elieen’
Week 8-9 : Explaining discussing culture and cultural identity
Weeks 10-13 current affairs, news topics
Week 14-15 review
Week 16: end of semester quiz

●成績評価の方法
Grades will be decided primarily by classroom participation, attitude and motivation. There will also be an end of semester test that will constitute approximately 25% of the grade.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として、英語（コミュニケーション）用「ぎゅっとｅ」リスニングを課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬＩＴＰの成績（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ、Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
