This class aims to improve students’ English language communication, especially speaking and listening. It will focus on daily conversation, as well as communication on specific subjects (taken from movies and audio clips, and short readings), and presentations.

1. Introduction 2. Superlative/Comparative Adjectives: [Discuss energy conservation] 3. Pronouns and possessive pronouns: [discuss and present on energy conservation strategies] 4. Past tense and present tense verbs: [Halloween: discuss indigenous roots, immigration, contemporary popular culture representations of the holiday] 5. Past perfect: [Discuss things you have and have done] 6. Best and worst experiences [Discuss changes over time] 7. Phrases for discussing personal opinions and unpleasant thoughts 8. Phrasal verbs (Part 1) [Discussion: Describing people] 9. Phrasal verbs (Part 2) [Discussion: Asking Questions about people] 10. Auxiliary Verbs to discuss documentary films [Discussion: the economy] 11. Adjectives for discussing personalities [Discussion: unacceptable behavior] 12. Short presentations on personalities 13. Discussing feature films [Adjectives to describe characters, setting and moods] 14. The Future Perfect: [Discuss the near future and the distant future] 15. Presentations on survey research or book reports [schedule subject to change]

●成績評価の方法
Evaluation is as follows: self-selected language activities (20%); participation in classroom activities (20%); presentations (10%); e-learning outside of class (20%); and TOEFL-ITP listening and structure scores (30%)

None. Students will be given handouts by the teacher in class.

None. But students should purchase a dictionary.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として、英語(コミュニケーション)用「ぎゅっとe」リスニングを課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の20%とする。また、TOEFLITPの成績(Listening、Structure)の評価を30%とする。5回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
