●本授業の目的およびねらい
本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高める授業を行い、日常会話、さらにはディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成する。

●授業内容
The course is taught entirely in English. All students are required to use English as much as they can during class. This is a chance to improve English abilities naturally.
Students will watch English-language television broadcasts from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), discuss their content, and work together in teams to present debate arguments related to the news stories they have watched and discussed.
In addition, each student will choose one independent language project to pursue outside of class time. This may include reading, conversation, or language-related circle activities.
The following topics are planned for listening and discussion: The Olympics; Shopping; Tourists; Fashion; Cycling; Food culture; Guide dogs; Financial literacy; The work week; Medical treatment; Applying for foreign citizenship; Climate change

●成績評価の方法
Assessment is based on independent language projects (25%), participation in classroom activities (25%), e-learning (20%), and TOEFL-ITP listening and structure scores (30%).

●注意事項
課外学習として「Ａｃａｄｅｍｉｃ Ｅｘｐｒｅｓｓ３」を課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬ ＩＴＰ（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ，Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。英語検定試験による単位認定を申請する学生以外は、履修取り下げを認めない。

The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a globalized society. This course will help students improve their communicative ability and master basic skills for discussion and presentations.
