| 本授業の目的およびねらい | | 本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
英語・英語文化にかかわる様々な主題についての文献・資料調査、調査に基づく英語による口頭発表など、少人数授業の利点を生かした学習活動を行い、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語の運用能力をさらに高めることを目指す。 |
| | | 授業の構成 | | | In this course, students will present oral Powerpoint (or similar program) presentations in English, on approved topics. It is taught entirely in English. Classes are student-led, with an emphasis on English-language communication for an academic context. Over the semester, students will present two to three presentations on approved topics. Given the smaller class size, this course will utilize this opportunity to have students presenting as much as possible. Through research, students will deepen their knowledge of English language and culture, and present their findings in class. During presentations, non-presenting students will be required to take notes and ask follow-up questions. Through this process, students will develop vital note-taking skills, as well as experience dealing with academic conference procedures. Students will be provided with detailed feedback on their performances, so that they can improve for subsequent presentations. |

| | | 本授業に関する参照Webページ | | | | | 担当教員からのメッセージ | | The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a globalized society. In a small-sized class, students will conduct literature reviews and make presentations on topics related to English language/cultures. Students are expected to become competent users of academic English.
