| 本授業の目的およびねらい | | 本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
英語・英語文化にかかわる様々な主題についての文献・資料調査、調査に基づく英語による口頭発表など、少人数授業の利点を生かした学習活動を行い、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語の運用能力をさらに高めることを目指す。 |

| 授業の構成 | | Classes are likely to be conducted online (through Zoom) for the foreseeable future. Classes will be conducted in an informal atmosphere with an emphasis upon discussion in pairs and groups. Students will study perspectives on society, technology and cultural change from various contexts to develop their global social awareness. This will sometimes include video. The report and presentation exercises will provide opportunities for students to undertake their own exploration in areas suiting their interests.

2-5. Reading about, viewing, discussing cultural issues
6. Research methods, useful research writing vocabulary
7. Mid-semester reflections
8. Research presentations: models and logical flow

| 担当教員からのメッセージ | | The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a global society. In a small-sized class, students will conduct literature reviews, write a research report and give a presentation on topics related to English language/cultures. Students are thus expected to become competent users of academic English.
