| 本授業の目的およびねらい | | 本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
英語・英語文化にかかわる様々な主題についての文献・資料調査、調査に基づく英語による口頭発表など、少人数授業の利点を生かした学習活動を行い、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語の運用能力をさらに高めることを目指す。 |

| 授業の構成 | | For each class, students will choose either a work of literature, such as a novel, simplified novel, short story or a play, or a newspaper or scientific article and make a presentation on it for the other students. This will be followed by other students having the opportunity to ask questions about the text in question and a discussion of general issues arising from the text.
We shall initially use Zoom and then discuss whether this is the most effective method. If we do not use Zoom, presentations may also be delivered as powerpoint presentations with questions and discussion taking place through Forum.

| 成績評価の方法と基準 | | | The students will be evaluated on their presentation. There will be no written exam. Participation in all sessions is an attendance requirement. |

| 担当教員からのメッセージ | | The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a globalized society. In a small-sized class, students will conduct literature reviews and make presentations on topics related to English language/cultures. Students are expected to move towards becoming competent and fluent users of academic English.
