| 本授業の目的およびねらい | | 本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高める授業を行い、日常会話、さらにはディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成する。 |
| | | 授業の構成 | | As a rule, the language of instruction is English. Each week, several students will serve as a discussion leader to facilitate in-class discussions on a particular topic. Students will study various communication skills (e.g., making eye-contact, adjusting stress patterns and intonation, using descriptive words, controlling pace, and expressing emotion). The following course plan is tentative and subject to revision during the semester, depending on students’ progress and, to an extent, topics of their interest.

| | | 参考書 | | | | | 注意事項 | | | 課外学習として「Ａｃａｄｅｍｉｃ Ｅｘｐｒｅｓｓ３」を課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬ ＩＴＰ（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ，Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。英語検定試験による単位認定を申請する学生以外は、履修取り下げを認めない。 |
