| 本授業の目的およびねらい | | 本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。
リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高める授業を行い、日常会話、さらにはディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成する。 |

| 授業の構成 | | | Most of the class activities will be related to chapters from the textbook and will include preparing and presenting conversations, explaining something relevant to selected topics, and having discussions and debates. Students will also be encouraged to deepen their understanding of English language and culture through researching their topics of interest and preparing short presentations using various reference materials. |

| 成績評価の方法と基準 | | | The grade will be based on the class activities described above - 30%, TOEFL-ITP - 30%, E-learning - 20%, and final presentation - 20%. |

| 注意事項 | | | 課外学習として「Ａｃａｄｅｍｉｃ Ｅｘｐｒｅｓｓ３」を課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬ ＩＴＰ（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ，Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。英語検定試験による単位認定を申請する学生以外は、履修取り下げを認めない。 |

This course will help students improve their communicative ability and master basic skills for discussion and presentations.

Students should come to class prepared to use English language. This is a chance to put some of the English they have been learning to use, to try to be creative with the language. Students are strongly encouraged to participate actively in the class and research topics of their interest for short presentations and discussions. |
