Have you ever presented or given a speech in public? Do you want to know how to present or gain confidence speaking in front of others? The purpose of this presentation class is for you to gain confidence and improve presentation skills by doing presentations.

●授業内容
The following are the planned subjects: 1.) skills from general public speaking that apply to academic presentations; 2.) hand gestures; 3.) how to apply skills from public speeches to academic presentations (especially by shadowing (imitating) these speeches; 4.) using pauses, tone of voice, and volume of voice to add meaning and persuasion to presentation; 5.) using graphics correctly; and 6.) making excellent hand-outs.
There will be three presentations: 1.) Presentations using hand gestures’; 2.) Presentations incorporating words, pauses, tone of voice, and volume changes.
Using conjunctions effectively in your presentation; and 3.) Final Presentations.

For this course the grade will be based on: presentations 75% and class participation 25%.

●教科書
The teacher will give handouts with readings on various presentation skills and strategies. Students are responsible for distributing handouts for their own presentations. Please bring a dictionary.

Students will learn strategies for effective presentation through: a) in class lectures: b) readings about presentation strategies; c) doing presentations; and d) receiving student and teacher feedback. The teacher will give detailed feedback on how the students can improve their presentations.
