●本授業の目的およびねらい
The primary aims of this course are to help students increase their abilities to: 1) Read different types of texts in English, including articles in newspapers, magazines, academic journal articles, and short stories; 2) Express their own thoughts and opinions about texts during conversations with classmates; 3) Lead long and sophisticated class discussions of texts by writing discussion questions and designing activities.

●授業内容
This class will use a discussion format, and students will be responsible for selecting most of the texts that we will talk about. In early class sessions, the instructor will demonstrate how to choose and summarize appropriate readings, write discussion questions, and manage class conversations. Then, students will sign up to lead discussions on particular days. As the class progresses, the texts we discuss will become longer and more complex.

None is required. All materials will be provided by the instructor or selected by students.

None is required, but students are recommended to bring a dictionary to class.

Students who miss 5 lessons or more cannot receive credit for this course.
５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
