●本授業の目的およびねらい
本授業は、英語という言語、その言語が培ってきた文化、および現代社会における英語文化についての深い教養を身につけることをその目的とする。英語・英語文化にかかわる様々な主題についての文献・資料調査、調査に基づく英語による口頭発表など、少人数授業の利点を生かした学習活動を行い、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語の運用能力をさらに高めることを目指す。

●授業内容
This seminar will focus on world issues such as migration, the environment, education, and economics, among others. It will cover all four major areas of language study (speaking, listening, reading, writing) as well as study and research skills.

●成績評価の方法
Students will be evaluated based on attendance and participation, short comment papers on selected issues discussed in the class, and one major presentation on a current issue of interest to the individual student.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として電子教材を課し、その成績に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。なお、５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
