AEB、AEI、及びeラーニングによって培った英語の読解力を用いて、さらに高いレベルの、また多様な英文の読解を行うとともに、現代社会における英語文化についての深い教養を養う授業。文学部学生を対象に開講する。

●授業内容
This course will consist of reading using different types of writing including: 1.) mass media, 2.) general, introductory academic writing, 3.) poetry and song lyrics, 4.) speeches, 5.) interviews, and 6.) webpages.
The subject matter will include: 1.) populism; 2.) the environment; and 3.) migration. The readings will illustrate how English speaking cultures view these subject matters. Therefore, through these readings, students will familiarize themselves with different, global world-views on important subjects.
Students will be responsible for presenting once on one of the three subject matters. This will involve some outside reading, since this class prioritizes students being active readers.

Class participation: 30%; quizzes and tests 45%; student presentations on one subject from the class: 25%.

None: the teacher will provide photocopies of the reading and reading comprehension questions.

Please bring an English language dictionary to all classes.

５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。

Active class participation is important. We will discuss reading comprehension in class and do other activities designed to assess, and improve, your reading ability.
