5. ‘Small Talk’ and workplace conversations
6. Things you have and have not done and changes over time
7. Phrases for discussing personal opinions and unpleasant thoughts
8. Describing people’s behavior: watch and discuss documentaries on American subcultures.
9. Asking Questions about people
10. Listening to conservations and interviews and describing settings in documentary films about social issues
11. Describing and discussing unacceptable behavior
12. Short speeches on personalities

●成績評価の方法
Evaluation is as follows: self-selected language activities (20%); participation in classroom activities (20%); speeches (10%); e-learning outside of class (20%); and TOEFL-ITP listening and structure scores (30%).

None: Students will be given handouts in class.

Students should purchase a dictionary and bring it to class.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として、英語（コミュニケーション）用「ぎゅっとｅ」リスニングを課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬＩＴＰの成績（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ、Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。

The aim of this course is to improve students’ communication ability mainly in terms of listening and speaking. It will help students develop their basic abilities with respect to daily conversation, discussions, and presentations.
In every class you are expected to participate actively in class. Do not be afraid to make errors. It’s more important to be communicative and expressive in this class.
