●本授業の目的およびねらい
本講義は、交換留学受入プログラム（ＮＵＰＡＣＥ）の短期交換留学生のために企画された英語による講義ですが、外国人留学生と日本人学生との間の活発な討論や交流を通じて授業を豊富化するため、正規の日本人学部学生や学部留学生の受講を歓迎します。授業と討論、フィールド・トリップを通じて、現代日本社会の主要な特徴を概観します。

●履修条件あるいは関連する科目等
英語による授業を理解し、レポートを作成するに十分な英語能力(TOEFL-PBT 520以上(入学時のTOEFL-ITP),TOEFL-iBT70以上, またはTOEIC730以上, 英準1級に近いことが望ましい）

●授業内容
This course introduces to the main features of contemporary Japanese society,
setting these in a historical as well as comparative context. Area of focus
include the Japanese culture, law, workplace, economy, education, modernisation/internationalisation, and environmental issues. The course shall take the form of lectures and discussion classes given by experts in their fields, and shall include a field-trip to site of interest. Each class will be taught by different lecturers in an omnibus style.

Attendance & Participation: 25%
Written Reports: three times 75% (25% x 3)
履修取り下げ制度を採用する。４回以上授業を欠席した場合は「欠席」とする。

Reference and reading materials for each class will be made available to
students one week in advance (to be collected at the NUPACE Office). Students
should ensure that they read the assigned materials prior to attending class.
