●本授業の目的およびねらい
To acquire some experience in oral English.

Students who have met whatever requirements which have been established by the
university may enroll.

●授業内容
Because the main objective of this course is to acquire some experience in
oral English, it will focus on developing skills in speaking and listening.
Students will be asked to read an assigned essay in the course book before
coming to each class meeting, and while in class, the essay in the book will
be read aloud and some pronunciation practice will be done on typically
problematic vocabulary. The rest of each class will be devoted to group work
and focus on creating and presenting a conversation related to the chapter in
the book.

●成績評価の方法
For the part of the course which is under the teacher's jurisdiction, 50% will
be based on attendance and 50% on effort and linguistic impression.
Otherwise, there are the Gyutto-e and TOEFL-ITP scores mentioned below.

●教科書
A course book will be made available at the first class meeting, and it is
expected to cost no more than 2001 yen according to the purchasing power of
the yen in mid December 2010.

●参考書
At least one dictionary which will be helpful for working with the English
language.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として、英語（コミュニケーション）用「ぎゅっとｅ」リスニングを課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、ＴＯＥＦＬ－ＩＴＰの成績（Ｌｉｓｔｅｎｉｎｇ、Ｓｔｒｕｃｔｕｒｅ）の評価を３０％とする。なお、５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。
