本授業は、学術的な英文に関する基礎的なリーディング能力とライティング能力の養成を

目的とする。そのねらいは、研究拠点大学である名古屋大学の学生にふさわしい学術英語

を使いこなす能力を身につけるところにある。論理的な英文のカギとなるエッセイの構造

に着目し、目的に応じて必要な情報をいかに読みとるか、また逆に、自分の考えをその根

拠とともにいかに説得力ある論理的な英文に組み立てるかを学ぶ。将来、専門の論文を英

語で読んだり書いたりする時に、指針となる英文構成法の基礎、および実際に役立つ英語

Review of paragraph reading and writing skills to ensure an efficient           

transition to writting essays. Knowledge and skills learned in prior            

semester Class will be applied to make a complete essay. Students will write    

essays both of a class-specific assigned topic, as well as self-selected        

topics of interest. These self-selected written assignments will be used in     

the class by other students as reading assignments. Advanced topics such as     

Critical and Logical Thinking, Proofreading Techniques, Brainstorming,          

Reference Material Usage as it affects writing with E-J/J-E dictionaries and    

thesaures, etc. will be learned. These topics will then be applied to create

対面授業に加え、課外学習として「ぎゅっとｅ」の上級リーディングを課し、その消化率

に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とする。また、１年終了時に実施されるＴＯＥＦ

Ｌ−ＩＴＰの成績（リーディング・セクション）とＣｒｉｔｅｒｉｏｎ試験の成績を授業

全体の評価の３０％とする。
