The objective of this course is to give students and other members of the university community an opportunity to practice talking and listening in English in an educational context.

●授業内容
This course will emphasize oral discussion and presentations related to themes in the course book. Students will be assigned a chapter for homework, and activities in class will include such things as free discussions, making and acting out conversations, and debates.

●成績評価の方法
Grading will be done according to in-class participation and impression (67%) and attendance (33%). Because the two criteria are related, the qualilty of work done and attitude are important.

●教科書
The course book will be available from the teacher during and after the first class meeting, and it is expected to cost no more than two thousand yen.

At least one dictionary for working with the English language is recommended.

Such a course requires active participation, so please be careful not to be lazy.

The course will require an active use of the imagination as well as of the English language. The course book is designed to encourage students to think about the topics raised, so please bring your thinking caps. (A paper copy of the syllabus, with or without any changes from this version, will be handed out in the first week of term.)
