●本授業の目的およびねらい
学会や社会で求められるプレゼンテーションを行えるよう、リーディング・スピーキング・リスニング・ライティングの各能力を高め、また４技能の統合を目指すことを目的とする。研究拠点大学たる名古屋大学の学生に相応しい学術英語を使いこなす能力を、実際の運用を前提とした学習活動を通して養う。自分の考えをその根拠とともにいかに説得力ある論理的な英文に組み立てるかというこれまで英語（基礎）・（中級）で養った知識・技能と、英語（コミュニケーション）で培ったコミュニケーション能力に加え、プレゼンテーションに必要な知識や技能を習得し、学術英語を使いこなす能力を更に発展させる。

●授業内容
Students will learn presentation techniques gradually and comfortably by presenting in pairs, small groups,and then larger groups. Presentations will be conducted to minimize stress and nervousness that some students may have initially. The techniques learned in this class will help develop self confidence in speaking and presenting.
Students will self-select medical topics of interest with Instructor prior-approval to make class relevant, not only for the presenter but also for the listeners. Emphasis will be placed on practical, useful skills tht can be used both in academic and professional (medical) environments.
Listening and note-taking skills will also be taught to ensure that there is substantila benefit to those who are not presenting. Should students desire, the Instructor will be able to record the presentations, with audio, and/or video, to provide students with time-delayed, self-evlauated feedback.

Grades will be based on participation and presentations.

Medical reference book MedCab, 224 pages A4,12-hours of Medical English/Japanese audio CD, PDF translation of over 1,000 Medical sentences will be provided at, or below cost, to students during the 2nd or 3rd class.

●注意事項
対面授業に加え、課外学習として電子教材を課し、その成績に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の２０％とる。なお、５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
