●授業内容

We will practice reading a variety of authentic materials. This includes short stories in a variety of genres such as science fiction, humor, and romance. It also includes short essays on politics, economics, and society written in English for English speakers. Students will also practice extensive reading outside of class by choosing their own reading materials and keeping a journal.

Class is structured around discussions. Each week you will read some material before coming to class. You will comment on the reading using NUCT message boards. In class, you will discuss this material with other members of the class, offering your reactions and understandings.

All students need to read before class and participate actively in discussions.

Course readings alternate between non-fiction essays and fictional short stories.

This seminar can be challenging, because we will read authentic materials made for English speakers. But the seminar is also fun because we get to read a variety of things, talk to other people about them, and share our ideas. There are no wrong answers when we discuss our own ideas. Challenge yourself to use our English, and have fun doing it.
