●本授業の目的およびねらい

リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高める授業。日常会話、さらにはディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成する。

●授業内容

This class will focus on how to gather and present information using interview surveys and questionnaires. The theme of the course is Understanding Japan. The first half of the course will involve use of textbook lessons to familiarize students with necessary vocabulary to discuss famous places in Japan and aspects of Japanese language and culture. The second half will be dedicated to forming surveys and/or questionnaires to conduct interviews with international students to discover what foreigners know and think about different aspects of life in Japan. The students will then analyze the information and present their findings to the class as the major assignment for the course.

●成績評価の方法

The students will be evaluated based on attendance and active participation in class discussion, the completion of the questionnaire or survey for their group project, and the results presentation.

●注意事項

対面授業に加え、課外学習として、英語(コミュニケーション)用「ぎゅっとe」リスニングを課し、その消化率に基づく評価を授業全体の評価の20%とする。また、TOEFLITPの成績(Listening、Structure)の評価を30%とする。5回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。

In addition to developing language skills in four areas (listening, speaking, reading and writing), this course will be useful for students who wish to improve their presentation skills and learn how to use surveys, interviews and questionnaires as data-gathering techniques. Be prepared to be active both inside and outside the classroom!
