●本授業の目的およびねらい

The primary aims of this course are to help students:1) Increase their levels of confidence and ability when making presentations; 2)Understand the components of effective presentations, including visual design, focused language, and clear speaking style; 3) Ask and answer productive questions in response to presentations.

●授業内容

The instructor will demonstrate presentation techniques, but most of our class time will be spent developing and practicing presentations through pair work, group work, and class discussion. Students will give two presentations of 5 to 10 minutes during the semester. However, the number of presentations may change depending on student enrollment. Specific lesson topics will include: Writing research proposals and presentation outlines; Finding relevant and reliable sources;Determining an objective and controlling idea, or thesis, for your presentation; Using focused language and concise vocabulary; Principles of visual design; Strategies for clear communication, including speaking style and body language.

Participation (30%); Written presentation proposals / outlines (20%); In-class presentations (50%)

None is required. All materials will be provided by the instructor.

None is required, but students are recommended to bring a dictionary to class.

●注意事項

Students who miss 5 lessons or more cannot receive credit for this course. 5回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
