●授業内容

All lessons involve informal discussion in small groups and as a class of various general themes, as well as specific issues relating to clear writing and general communication. Short reading passages and even video will be used as models of communication to help us develop our own form and style.

Class content is based on the basic principles of clear, effective communication. Themes for writing exercises can be chosen freely. Along with general themes chosen according to students' interests, specific writing issues we will discuss include:

* the personal benefits of writing
* writing as a form of communication
* understanding your audience/readers
* discovering your goal and controlling idea
* building the best structure to support your idea
* vocabulary development: the language of logical flow
* using evidence to support your idea
* making complex ideas easy to understand
* oral summary of writing
* how to enjoy writing.

Various group and individual activities will deepen and clarify our understanding of the best ways to communicate information. Some writing exercises will be done in class and occasionally at home to provide experience and individualized feedback on your writing style and accuracy.

Although writing is often done alone, it is a form of communication, a type of interaction. Keeping that in mind, let's work together to make our communication clear, effective and even enjoyable. I will be available to help you individually with advice, feedback and support to suit your needs.

Outside of the class you can write as freely as you like and I will be happy to give you feedback anytime.
